Meet our two Leonbergers, Kisa and Larkin (right
to left).
Kisa was born on February 15, 1999 at LionHill Kennel in Alberta, Canada. Her parents are Sir Yen-Yinbar-Clay of Pelgrims Ring (Barclay) and Tilly of LionHill. She currently weighs 100 pounds. When people meet her for the first time, they almost always use the word "spunky". We've simply describe her as our turbo-model Leo who is lovably stubborn and mischievous. Her favorite activities are standing in the rain, playing fetch and helping to put away the groceries.
Larkin was born on June 7, 1999 at LionHill Kennel in Alberta, Canada. His parents are Sir Yen-Yinbar-Clay of Pelgrims Ring and Lady Fawn of Buschcastle. He also weighs 100 pounds, but is in the middle of another growth spurt. Larkin is almost Kisa's exact opposite -- a very big, super sweet, extremely laid back, "I ain't gotta prove nothing" kind of guy. Larkin likes to hold your hand in his mouth and can't seem to get it through his head that he's not a lap dog.
They are inseparable and play well with other dogs. Our vet says Kisa and Larkin are the happiest dogs they've ever seen. 06/00
Cricket is our tortie that we brought home from PetCo's Adopt-a-Pet
day in April, 1999. We believe she's approaching her third
birthday. She's a tiny little thing weighing about 7 pounds and
spends half her time sleeping in my bread basket when I forget to
put it out of her reach and the other half on the sofa being
licked by Larkin. 04/99
Meet the parents of our puppies: Sir Yen-Yinbar-Clay
of Pelgrims Ring (32", 140 pounds), Tilly (28 1/2", 100 pounds)
and Lady Fawn of Buschcastle (27 1/2", 95 pounds). The photo of Lady Fawn
was taken shortly after she gave birth to a litter of 12 (I'm
pretty sure this was Larkin's litter).
Tawnee
was born on Halloween, 1984... for her
age, she's extremely healthy and energetic. She has pretty much
gotten used to the fact that there are other animals in the house
and spends most of her time upstairs where it's quiet. She did
get cornered in the family room one day and had to be physically
recovered. Tawnee and Cricket have basicallly decided to tolerate
each other so we no longer have feline olympics in the middle of
the night.
Our resident marsh hawk didn't disappoint us and
showed up right on schedule in late September and October to hunt
in our back field. It appears that she might have some
competition on future hunts -- I recently spotted what I believe
is a Northern Hawk Owl in the same location. The picture at the
left was taken from a photo archive on the Web... I'm still
looking for an opportunity to get a picture of "our"
birds.
